The "Motor Transport Management Information System" (MTMIS) project is to be pilot implemented in Lahore District first and then relevant components of the system would be deployed in other districts of the Punjab to automate the whole province. As part of the project, the CFMTMIS is to be set up which will serve as the central hub of information as well as provide state of the art facilities for embossing and hot-stamping of retro-reflective registration plates along with printing and customization of smart cards.

The CFMTMIS will be connected with the Excise & Taxation Department, Transport Department, Driving Licensing Authority, Environment Protection Department and Falcon Control Terminal using a wireless link.

MTMIS's Vision

The vision behind the creation of the CFMTMIS is to provide a central management of the province wide data, collected from each stake holder department and to provide a central printing/encoding and customization facility of RFID tags, Retro-reflective Registration Plates and Smart Cards. The registration of vehicles and the issuance of driving licenses are being handled at the district level.

Providing specialized training and specialized hardware to each district would have been an enormous task with a much higher price tag as compared to providing these facilities from a central location serving the various districts of the Punjab Province. The CFMTMIS is to serve as that central facility which would not only reduce the cost of the project but it would also improve the manageability of the data with a lower human resource requirement.
